We are looking for an experienced shipping & receiving professional who can create order in a growing, complex environment and help scale our operations.
Position Summary
This role owns all inbound and outbound logistics and inventory control. The Shipping & Receiving & Inventory Lead will design and enforce systems for package tracking, vendor deliveries, outgoing freight, and internal material storage. This person will work closely with Production, Activation, and Procurement to ensure the right materials and assets are on hand, organized, and shipped accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Inbound Logistics
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Maintain real-time tracking of all deliveries; proactively resolve missing or delayed shipments with carriers or vendors.
- Communicate receipt of critical materials to Production and Project Managers.
- Outbound Logistics
- Prepare, package, and schedule outbound shipments; select cost-effective carriers and coordinate pickup/delivery schedules.
- Ensure all required documentation (BOL, customs forms, labeling) is accurate and complete.
- Inventory & Space Management
- Implement and manage an organized storage system for project materials, tools, and consumables.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts and periodic full counts; report shortages or excess to management.
- Track and report on key metrics (e.g., lost/delayed shipments, cycle count accuracy, inventory turns, freight cost vs. budget).
- Process & Systems
- Establish and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- Train and oversee any support staff in the department.
- Recommend and implement tools or software to improve visibility and control.
- Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with Procurement, Production, Activation, and Accounting to align shipments with build schedules and client timelines.
- Support quick turnaround of urgent project needs while protecting accuracy and cost.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Proven ability to bring order and structure to a warehouse or shipping/receiving environment.
- Strong knowledge of shipping carriers, freight options, and documentation.
- Working knowledge of inventory control methods and warehouse best practices.
- Capable of implementing and sustaining SOPs.
- Forklift and material handling equipment experience (certification preferred).
- Intermediate computer skills: ability to learn or recommend warehouse/inventory software.
- Excellent problem-solving and follow-up; proactive communication.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or logistics training preferred.
- 3+ years shipping/receiving or warehouse experience; at least 1 year in a lead or supervisor capacity strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or maneuver materials exceeding 50 lbs with team assistance or appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet jack, forklift, or lift gate).
- Comfortable handling a wide range of shipment types — from small parcels under 5 lbs to large, irregularly shaped, or heavy materials (including sheet metal, crates, or display components) weighing several hundred pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a warehouse or shop-floor environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other environmental conditions (e.g., heat during summer months or cold during winter).
- Ability to operate or learn to operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other loading/unloading tools.
- Must adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and handling procedures when moving or staging freight.
